To overseas audiences or To whom So ever it may Concern:
We would like to clarify and state our side of the story regarding Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo streaming platform issue/discussion which are going around in social media since yesterday.
We were told by the makers and it was mentioned in all forms of media that film’s satellite and digital rights were sold to SunNxt, the OTT platform associated with Gemini TV. SunNxt as a streaming service is not as penetrable as Netflix or Prime Video among overseas Telugu audience and has very few subscribers. So, we (i.e. Overseas Distributors) used the phrase ‘You will not see this on Netflix or Prime Video’ in our promotional campaign.
Last night the film was made available both on SunNxt and Netflix. We discussed this issue with the production team and learnt that SunNxt who bought streaming rights, associated with Netflix as well to reach out to audiences in more overseas countries where SunNxt has low/ or No presence. This is an internal agreement among those two streaming platforms to increase their revenues and to reach out to more audience all over and nothing to do with Producers or overseas distributor which is also surprise to us.
Hope this clarifies. We apologize for any inconvenience caused and we assure that going forward we will be more careful with our promotional campaigns.
Thank you all for your support!
